South Rand Region celebrates its 21st Birthday this year South Rand had their Inaugrural rally on the 16 -17 March 1991. This rally took place at Heidelberg Kloof and there was 118 caravans in attendance that weekend. South Rand has a good mix of English and Afrikaans members, ages range from 20+ to pensioners. There is a large group of children also ranging from a few months to late teens. Most of our members are based on the East Rand, Alberton and the South of Johannesburg. Our parks that we frequent are Koppisol, Malonjeni, Suikerbosrand (Karee Kloof), Bloekompoort, Klipdraai off the R59 highway. We also go to Weltevrede (Parys), Monateng (Pretoria), Klein Paradys, Drie Berge (Brits area) etc. On a average rally, attendance can vary from 15 to 60+ caravans, we have a registration process on Friday nights (depending if the park has a hall - there will normally be a dance), games on Saturday (either kids games OR family games), Sunday school is available and Chairman's "tea" (this is anything but tea) takes place on the Sunday. All events arranged for the weekend are voluntary (except registration and Chairman's tea). Sunseeker Caravans: Sunseeker based in Tulisa park has "adopted" South Rand region. We normally partake in their Open days and they sponsor us on numerous events.
